Luxury Nature Retreat: Find Solitude in a Pod

Tourism is resuming around the globe, as companies and travelers alike adapt to the evolving landscape while prioritizing safety. Design company Nomadic Resorts has recently launched their latest innovation – Seedpods designed for sleeping and dining. These unique structures provide an opportunity for travelers to unwind in nature, escaping the hustle and bustle of city life.

With Nomadic Resorts’ first dining pods now in place at the Heritage Nature Reserve in Mauritius, there are plans for additional installations across various locations and resorts in the near future. This innovative concept aligns with social distancing guidelines, as the Seedpod is crafted from easily sanitized, hygienic materials, allowing for quick and effective disinfection—offering a safer alternative to traditional hotel rooms.

According to Nomadic Resorts, “The psychological and economic impacts of the coronavirus and subsequent lockdown will be far-reaching. People will reassess their concepts of personal space, work, family, and hygiene. Additionally, they will re-evaluate food security, travel, wellness, and their connection with the natural world. Consequently, a new form of travel will emerge.”

Moreover, these pods are designed to withstand wind speeds of up to 120 km/h, allowing for installation in remote areas without heavy machinery or power tools. The Seedpod can be suspended from trees or set up on its own tripod, complete with lighting, ceiling fans, cool boxes, and charging stations for devices. This versatility makes them an excellent choice for hiking trails, surf camps, or silent safaris.

In addition, Nomadic Resorts emphasizes that the Seedpod represents a low-impact, sustainable hospitality model that addresses the increasing demand for experiential travel, eco-tourism, wellness retreats, and alternative lodging options. Sleeping in the pod offers a transformative experience—one that allows guests to observe wildlife and listen to the surrounding forest sounds.
