His name is Tim Tiller, and he serves as the director of security and operations services at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. While safeguarding the museum during its temporary closure, Tim is also responsible for managing its lively Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook postings.

Since introducing himself on 17 March, Tim has been learning the art of onsite content creation. His light-hearted posts often feature dad jokes, utilize the hashtag #HashtagTheCowboy, and conclude with his signature sign-off: “Thanks, Tim.”

Interestingly, prior to this initiative, Tim had minimal social media experience, stating that he had “spent a little time on Facebook, but that’s it.”

However, he turned out to be the virtual ambassador that the museum desperately needed. “We wanted to find a way to keep our audience engaged,” remarked Seth Spillman, the chief marketing and communications officer. “Knowing that security would be left in the building no matter what, we thought about showcasing the museum from Tim’s unique perspective.”

Guided by the museum’s marketing staff, Tim’s endearing approach has proven to be incredibly captivating. Consequently, his Twitter followers have soared to over 267,000, and the museum’s Facebook and Instagram presence has also seen substantial growth.

The added responsibility is not a burden for Tim; in fact, he finds joy in balancing security duties with social media engagement. “I have some time on my hands in an empty building,” he expressed happily.
