Why Vilnius Stands Out

Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, emerges as the cheapest destination on the list, with a combined cost of £111.23 (€122.86) for a flight, accommodation, a three-course meal, and a pint. The city boasts an Old Town that embodies a rare sense of authenticity, where pebbled streets are lined with historic buildings that harbor charming cafés, boutiques, and delightful guesthouses.

Despite being a capital, Vilnius maintains an intimate, village-like atmosphere, accentuated by abundant green spaces that account for approximately 40% of its overall area. Additionally, it is home to stunning Catholic and Orthodox church spires that enhance the city’s captivating skyline.

Emma Coulthurst, travel commentator for TravelSupermarket, emphasizes the variability in costs, stating, “The cost of your city break can differ hugely, depending on where you opt to go. If you don’t want to overspend, consider both the package price (flights and hotel) and the cost of living in each destination. TravelSupermarket’s Best Value Index assists holidaymakers in discovering where their funds will stretch further, versus destinations that may strain their budget.”
