Discover the Stunning Submerged Hiking Trail in Brazil After Rain

Experience the Stunning Eco-Tourism of Brazil’s Rio da Prata

Heavy rains in a region of southern Brazil transformed a hiking trail at an eco-tourism site into a mesmerizing underwater spectacle.

Filmed at Recanto Ecológico Rio da Prata, located about 56km south of Bonito and famous for its snorkeling, the video captures the dramatic effects of flooding experienced in early February. The eco-tourism site is nestled within a private natural reserve where travelers can engage in various activities such as bird-watching and horseback riding. However, the primary attractions are the exquisite rainforest treks and snorkeling experiences.

When adventurers immerse themselves in the water, they float downstream while marveling at the crystal-clear, fish-filled waters of the Rio Olha d’Água or the Rio da Prata.

This incredible footage naturally caught the attention of many, leading to the video quickly going viral. The park’s explanation on the YouTube video clarifies that the recording occurred during water monitoring. Following significant rainfall, the dams of the Rio da Prata river caused an increase in the water level of the Olho D’Água River. According to the park, “Despite the flood, on the day the video was recorded, the waters of the Olho D’Água River remained crystal clear due to their conserved riparian forest and being inside a Private Reserve of the Natural Patrimony – PRNP, a type of Conservation Unit.” Such phenomena are rare, and by day’s end, the water level returned to its usual state. Consequently, the park noted that tourists visiting the site were treated to a truly unique experience.

On an ordinary day, guests embark on a guided tour along the trail before venturing into snorkeling. Tours are limited to nine participants, accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, and they typically last around three-and-a-half hours.
