Marriott’s Enhanced Cleaning Protocols for Guest Safety (Video)

Marriott’s Commitment to Cleanliness and Safety

As global travel restrictions eventually lift, Marriott’s new cleanliness initiative will ensure guests feel comfortable as soon as they arrive for their much-needed trips. This initiative is pivotal for travelers seeking a safe and enjoyable experience.

Global Cleanliness Council

Helmed by a variety of experts, Marriott has announced its “Global Cleanliness Council” aimed at upholding new cleaning protocols at each of their locations. This council comprises senior leaders from housekeeping and food safety, as well as food safety scientists, infectious disease specialists, and professors of food microbiology. This diverse team is committed to promoting higher standards of cleanliness in the age of COVID-19.

Guest Assurance

In the words of Arne Sorenson, President and CEO of Marriott International, “We want our guests to understand what we are doing today and planning for in the near future in the areas of cleanliness, hygiene, and social distancing to ensure their health and safety is our priority.” This statement underscores Marriott’s dedication not only to guests but also to their associates’ health as they serve patrons.

New Cleaning Technologies

As part of this initiative, Marriott will introduce new technology, including:

  • Electrostatic sprayers with hospital-grade disinfectant for cleaning rooms and public spaces.
  • Ultraviolet light technology to sanitize keys and devices shared by guests and associates.

These advancements signify Marriott’s commitment to maintaining a safe atmosphere for all visitors.

Enhanced Check-In Experience

Upon check-in, guests will notice an increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting routines, particularly in high-touch areas. The introduction of partitions at the front desk will help maintain a safe distance between guests and staff, while hand-sanitizing stations will be available throughout the hotel. Moreover, guests can check into and unlock their rooms using their phones, thereby minimizing physical contact.

Additionally, furniture in public areas will be strategically rearranged to ensure adherence to social-distancing measures, enhancing overall safety for all guests.

Support for First Responders

Earlier this month, Marriott launched a program to provide free hotel rooms to first responders and medical workers in the U.S. cities most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, including New York City, New Orleans, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Washington, D.C. This initiative highlights Marriott’s commitment to the community during these challenging times.
