There are two types of people in the world: Those who merely love tacos and those who love tacos more than any other food in existence. If you fall into either camp, that’s OK, as this new taco trail in the East Bay, just outside of San Francisco, is ready to welcome you.
In October, the town of Concord launched its taco trail that features more than 35 local Mexican restaurants and taquerias all in one convenient loop.
“Concord has long been home to deliciously authentic, family-owned taquerias and restaurants and we’ve rounded up a list of the best for taco lovers to explore,” reps for the town explained on the taco trail’s website. “And while the Taco Trail may have made its official debut in 2020, great Mexican food has always been a part of Concord’s heritage and legacy, so we say it all started in 1869.”

According to the website, the trail’s creation took “hours of tasty research.” Moreover, it’s fun, but the designers took their job seriously and came up with a few rules before adding any restaurants to the list.
Each spot had to adhere to the following:
- The primary business must serve Mexican or Latino food.
- It must be located in Concord.
- It should be a single location or one of a small number of locations. (No Taco Bell allowed.)
The only other locations excluded from the list are the area’s taco trucks, as they do not have a permanent address.
“Each of the Trail’s nearly 40 locations offer specialty and signature tacos including al pastor, carnitas, carne asada, crispy fish, grilled tilapia, vegetarian, and even filet mignon,” the website added. “There’s much to explore, so fire up your sense of adventure and let the trail take you where it will.
