A new 84-mile cycle route in Scotland has launched, taking in quiet country roads through picturesque areas such as Caerlaverock Castle and Nature Reserve, the 12 Apostles, Drumlanrig Castle, and Scotland’s highest village. This remarkable three-day journey is designed for cyclists to learn about the country’s whiskies, food, history, and national poet, Robert Burns.

The Whisky and Burns Cycling Tour provides an extraordinary way to discover the beauty of south-west Scotland. The guided tour begins in the coastal town of Powfoot and covers approximately 30 miles each day, primarily on tranquil country roads. This experience is tailored for leisurely cycling through the stunning landscapes that have inspired numerous writers and poets. Consequently, participants can enjoy renowned whiskies, towering castles, and vibrant nature reserves brimming with wildlife.

Tour Accessibility and Options

This pedal-powered adventure is suitable for cyclists of all abilities; however, the third day, which includes a visit to Wanlockhead, necessitates a good level of fitness due to steep roads. If you prefer a more relaxed pace, day three can be customized to suit your needs. The tour is conducted by Galloways Cycling Company, a family-run cycling business renowned for exquisite outdoor experiences recognized by Scotland’s tourism board.

If you don’t wish to transport your own bike, rental options are available starting at £20 (€22/$26) per day, including maps, GPS, and safety gear.
