Explore the Mt. Tabor Trail in Michigan
It’s time to hit the trail. However, you’ll need the perfect refreshment for your adventure.
Hiking and immersing yourself in nature is a delightful, safe way to travel this spring. Whether you’re an experienced hiker or a novice, you can enjoy this four-mile trail that connects two wineries in southwest Michigan.
About the Mt. Tabor Trail
The Mt. Tabor Trail is a 3.6-mile, pet-friendly hiking path that seamlessly connects the Round Barn and Tabor Hill Wineries. Hikers can enter the trailhead at either winery, where they can purchase wine, beer, spirits, and food selections from both establishments to enjoy along the way.
Trail Accessibility and Options
Traveling with children, pets, or just not an experienced hiker? No need to worry. The trail offers several options to adjust the difficulty level of your hike. The paths meander through open fields, wooded areas, and vineyards, with the vineyards being the easiest segments of the trail. If you’re short on time, you can opt for an easy-to-moderate route that takes you to both vineyards in just 1.15 miles round trip.
Health and Safety Guidelines
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, both wineries have implemented new health and safety measures to ensure guests have a safe experience, as prescribed by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Indoor capacity is limited to 25 percent, with tables accommodating no more than six guests at a time. Masks are required, and guests are encouraged to practice social distancing. Fortunately, with the availability of to-go refreshments and snacks, maintaining social distance while on the trail is quite manageable.
Family and Pet-Friendly Trail
Kids are welcome on the trail when accompanied by an adult, while pets must be leashed at all times. Though this trip is perfect for outdoorsy types who also enjoy wine, no overnight camping or campfires are permitted. For those interested in an overnight stay, Round Barn Estate offers a four-bedroom house rental on-site.
