Hotel Overview
Since the 1950s, the Egyptian Motor Hotel has been an iconic mainstay of Phoenix’s arts district, situated on Grand Avenue. Known for its oversized neon signage and Egyptian-themed décor, this retro hotel is revitalizing its charm this spring while incorporating modern amenities.
Room Features
The hotel boasts 49 newly renovated rooms that blend nostalgia with modern comfort. Gone are the days of spring mattresses on coin-operated vibrating beds; now, guests can enjoy:
- Marshall Bluetooth speakers
- Smart TVs
- Fast and complimentary Wi-Fi
Accommodations vary, featuring options from bunk beds to king-size beds, and select rooms even come equipped with acoustic guitars.
Entertainment Options
The rooms will envelop a v-shaped outdoor entertainment venue called Egyptian Live, which can accommodate up to 250 guests. This venue will host an array of live performances, including musicians, magicians, and comedians, complemented by a cocktail bar open every evening. Guests will enjoy prime views from their balconies.
Additionally, outdoor games such as giant Jenga, foosball, and corn hole will be available, along with submarine races in the pool. A stunning mural by local artists is also in development.
Dining Experience
Food enthusiasts will be thrilled to learn that the Egyptian Motor Hotel will be home to the first permanent location of the popular food truck Chilte. Chef Lawrence Smith will showcase artisanal Mexican cuisine, featured recently on the Food Network’s Chopped.
Chilte co-founder Aseret Arroyo expressed their excitement, stating, “At Chilte, food serves as a source of connection to each other and our communities.” The restaurant will introduce unique dishes including a mole flight with three distinct mole sauces inspired by the chef’s travels in Mexico, and an elote cheesecake that combines Mexican street corn with Mezcal, chili, fruit, and queso.
While an official reopening date for the Egyptian has yet to be announced, guests can stay updated on the progress of this unique destination.
