Travel Tips from ‘Home Edit’ Stars: Why Snacks Matter as Much as Clothes

Introducing The Home Edit’s Collaboration with Calpak

When it comes to traveling—or even just leaving the house for an errand—being comfy and having loads of snacks is a top priority for founders of The Home Edit, Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin.

Recently, the home organizing gurus and stars of the Netflix hit show discussed their latest collaboration with travel brand Calpak, which checks all the boxes for both traveling and lounging these days.

Comfort Meets Functionality

“We really wanted to create a collection that married form and function,” Shearer mentioned. “That’s all we talk about at The Home Edit; we also aimed to address the comfort aspect of traveling. Even if it’s just a trip to the grocery store or a quick drive in the carpool lane, it’s nice to be comfortable in matching joggers and a mask.”

The Collection’s Highlights

The collection, which launched recently, includes:

  • A sweatshirt
  • A set of three face masks
  • A blanket
  • A neck pillow
  • A set of three zipper cases, ideal for carrying snacks.

“The amount of snacks that we bring everywhere we go is almost unbelievable, like truly wild,” Shearer explained. “That’s why the pouches are so large; everyone needs to understand just how many snacks we carry with us.”

Teplin added, “We have like a grocery store in the back of our car. That’s why we were excited to have a set of three [zipper cases] so we can organize different snacks.”

Travel Tips from The Home Edit

When it comes to packing a suitcase for future trips, Shearer provided some Home Edit-approved advice. “I always like to say the correct system is the one that works for you,” she stated. “My packing system involves using packing squares and categorizing my toiletries, cosmetics, and more. I count the days I’m going to be gone and select the necessary amount of outfits and loungewear.”

Teplin admitted, “I keep it organized, but I have way extra; I’m not that efficient.”

Looking Forward to Future Travels

For many travel enthusiasts, the memories of past trips provide motivation, and for Shearer and Teplin, that memorable trip was to London. “We had the very best trip of our life in 2019,” Shearer recalled. “The second we can go out again, we are going to make the most of it.”
