A new beach park in Bergen will undoubtedly inspire you to visit Norway soon.

True Blue is a development initiative aimed at refurbishing Bergen’s coastline, according to Dezeen. The pool itself was designed in collaboration with Fredrik Pettersson Arkitekter from the Swedish architecture firm White Arkitekter, featuring triangular structures that form three separate pools. These structures will also incorporate a sauna, picnic areas, and facilities for kayak rentals, as reported by Dezeen. Their distinctive designs create a visual resemblance to a starfish.

“The sea pool, floating in view of the urban beach, is essentially a multifunctional platform that can double as a stage, transforming the beach and plaza into stands for large audiences,” stated White Arkitekter’s lead architect Niels de Bruin in a comment to Dezeen. “Connecting the triangulated forms creates a starfish pattern. The triangle-shaped silhouettes of the surrounding mountains enhance this three-dimensional landscape.”

In addition to the floating pool, True Blue will also feature multiple meeting spaces, a beach area, sports fields, and a 1,500-meter (just under 5,000 feet) long seawall, which will protect visitors from the sometimes unforgiving Norwegian coastal climate.

Embrace the Wonders of Norway’s Natural Beauty

“True Blue is our way to communicate the love story between the city of Bergen and water in all its forms: the mist, the rain, the flowing streams, and the waiting sea,” de Bruin conveyed to Dezeen. “The space between the seawall and the sea, framed by lush hills, meadows, and wetlands, offers a space to experience both the wild, dangerous waters and the soft, soothing ones.”

The design of True Blue aims to create a seamless connection between the vibrant city area and a more tranquil, meadow-like environment for visitors to relax and enjoy.

It is believed that the success of True Blue could pave the way for more floating pools to be constructed throughout Scandinavia and potentially beyond, as noted by Dezeen. The park itself is projected to be completed by 2023.
