An insight into the family-friendly riverside villa that Bangkok has been waiting for.
In Thailand, private holiday villas are far from uncommon. However, Bangkok has primarily relied on high-rise hotels and luxurious Airbnb penthouses for its hospitality offerings. The city lacked a true family-friendly retreat, but this gap was identified by Thai-Filipino couple Kirati Thepsoparn and Irma Go.
The couple, passionate about family travel, had encountered incredible accommodations around the world that served their unique purposes. They expressed, “As parents who love traveling with our kids, we enjoyed experiences in places that made the most of their locations.” Their dreams materialized when they discovered a trio of neglected Thai houses along the tranquil khlongs (canals) of Bangkok Noi, leading to the establishment of Siri Sala, which means Auspicious Pavilion.
Design Features of Siri Sala
The design of Siri Sala pays homage to traditional Thai architecture, featuring three stilted wooden houses with pointed gabled roofs, connected by a central courtyard. This layout echoes old Thai homes where outdoor spaces were utilized for socializing. The villa includes:
- A spacious dining room with a 20-seat table
- A cozy library lounge
- A relaxing spa area
- A 65-foot saltwater pool
- A kid-friendly lounge
- Four thoughtfully designed bedrooms, each with elegant bathrooms
Each room is adorned with bright mosaic tiles and traditional rain showers, delivering a unique blend of comfort and cultural flair.
Activities and Amenities
While staying at Siri Sala, guests can enjoy a variety of activities, such as:
- Relaxing massages in the beautiful fern-fringed spa garden
- Lotus-folding workshops
- Chef-led Thai cooking classes in the open kitchen
- Sunset drinks with views of Wat Suwannaram temple
- A welcome dinner featuring delectable river prawns
- Daily breakfast
Pricing and Experience
Staying at Siri Sala starts at $3,500 per night, which increases to $6,000 during peak season. This rate accommodates up to eight guests, offering a luxurious experience that includes airport transfers and a two-hour guided boat tour through the scenic canals.
As Irma Go stated, “Here, we wanted to redefine what a Thai house would look like today.” Consequently, Siri Sala offers an innovative and welcoming alternative to traditional accommodations in Bangkok, providing families with an enriching experience that celebrates Thai culture while ensuring comfort and luxury.
