Although coastal resorts are often the first destinations that come to mind, California is also home to stunning inland retreats. The Ojai Valley Inn (No. 11), surrounded by the scenic Topatopa Mountains, garnered praise for its “magical” location and exceptional service. Guests particularly enjoyed the hotel’s Olivella restaurant, recognized as one of the best Italian dining experiences in the country.

The allure of the Pacific coast continues to draw attention, featuring perennial favorites like Alila Ventana Big Sur (No. 15) and Post Ranch Inn (No. 14). Perched above dramatic cliffs, these properties offer breathtaking views and luxurious amenities. Respondents highlighted the latter as “the best luxury getaway in the U.S.,” noting the extraordinary accommodations and top-tier food offerings.
