Discovering Oregon’s Wine Country
The Vintages offers an exceptional way to explore Oregon’s renowned wine country. While Napa Valley frequently captures the spotlight in discussions about premier wine regions, venturing a bit further north leads you to the enchanting Willamette Valley in Oregon, providing a unique experience for wine enthusiasts. During a recent summer trip, I had the pleasure of staying at The Vintages, a charming trailer resort nestled in the heart of wine country. This picturesque accommodation spans 14 acres and serves as a perfect home base for exploring the area.
The Heart of Wine Country
Located in Dayton, the heart of the Willamette Valley, this charming destination is becoming a favored wine spot in its own right. Remarkably, the Willamette Valley is home to over 700 wineries and vineyards, comprising approximately two-thirds of Oregon’s total grape production. Here are three notable wineries conveniently accessible from The Vintages.
- Durant at Red Ridge Farms features a spacious tasting room, lush olive groves, estate gardens, and excellent lodging options for those seeking an immersive vineyard experience.
- Remy Wines stands out as one of the best vineyards in the U.S., offering a charming farmhouse tasting room and exquisite Italian wines.
- Another excellent choice is Stoller Family Estate, a well-regarded presence in the area, providing Classic and Estate tasting experiences in its inviting Dayton tasting room.
Amenities at The Vintages
In addition to its ideal location, The Vintages offers a variety of delightful communal amenities. One of the highlights is the cozy fire pit, perfect for unwinding after a day of wine tastings while enjoying delicious s’mores from the general store. Additional amenities include a fitness center, pool, clubhouse, high-speed Wi-Fi, outdoor grills, and complimentary cruiser bikes—ideal for exploring the lovely resort grounds.
Unique Trailer Accommodations
The main attractions at The Vintages are undoubtedly the trailers themselves, comprising 36 restored and uniquely designed accommodations dating back to 1947. While each trailer has its distinct décor, several are notable for their retro aesthetics or modern comforts.
Among the most luxurious is the spacious Spartan Royal Mansion, which combines contemporary and bohemian elements and features a seasonal open-air soaking tub within its generous outdoor area. This 36-foot trailer, originally from 1956, has been reimagined to resemble a traditional guest room with a king-size bed.
A smaller yet charming accommodation is the 1958 Oasis, ideal for two adults, featuring a full-size bed and vintage dinette with a cat-themed décor. Additionally, the Neutron Couples trailer, featuring a remarkable indoor soaking tub, provides the perfect ambiance for romantic getaways. Ultimately, The Vintages presents 33 more trailers, each uniquely aligned to meet travelers’ desires—all radiating charm and warmth.
