Universal’s Upcoming Texas Theme Park: All the Latest Details

Universal Parks & Resorts Announces New Theme Park in Texas

Universal Parks & Resorts has announced a new theme park slated to open in Frisco, Texas. This one-of-a-kind theme park promises to be unlike any other in the world and will cater specifically to families with young children. The company shared these details with iBestTravel on Wednesday. In the concept art revealed, the park is envisioned to be set in a lush green landscape, featuring immersive themed lands that transport guests to different worlds.

Location Details

Universal states that it will bring to life beloved characters and stories in ways that will impress even the youngest theme park attendees. Information regarding a timeline for the park’s opening has not been disclosed. The park will span 97 acres of recently purchased land, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, strategically sized for regional audiences. The decision to select this area was influenced by factors such as the growing population and increasing demand for family-friendly entertainment.

Features and Attractions

Page Thompson, President of New Ventures at Universal Parks & Resorts, stated, “We think North Texas is the perfect place to launch this unique park for families given its growing popularity within this part of the country.” Universal emphasizes that the park will be full of family-friendly attractions, including interactive and playful shows, character meet-and-greets, unique merchandise, and exciting food and beverage venues. Although the park will be scaled down compared to traditional theme parks, it will still uphold the high-quality standards synonymous with Universal’s larger resort destinations.

There are also plans for future expansion, which may include an adjacent themed hotel aimed at enhancing the overall visitor experience.

Trend in Theme Parks

This venture is part of a growing trend in the theme park industry known as ‘micro-parks’. These parks are significantly smaller than large-scale counterparts and are designed to be experienced in a shorter timeframe, often providing a more affordable option for families. Some notable examples include the recently opened Peppa Pig Theme Park in Florida and the in-development Crystal Lagoons Island Resort in Arizona.

Currently, Universal Parks & Resorts operates five theme park resorts worldwide, including Universal Studios Orlando and Universal Studios Japan. However, this will mark its first foray into this innovative park concept, focusing on providing quality entertainment for families with young children.
