Discover the Renovated Vinoy Resort: St. Petersburg’s Iconic Pink Hotel

New Heights of Luxury at Vinoy St. Petersburg Resort

The highly anticipated renovation of Florida’s Vinoy St. Petersburg Resort and Golf Club is complete. Alongside the makeover comes a rebrand: the 354-room hotel is now a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel, and it’s the only St. Pete property in the collection.

1. Renovation of Vinoy St. Petersburg Resort

Ever since its New Year’s Eve debut as the Vinoy Park Hotel in 1925, the hotel has been a landmark of downtown St. Pete, known for its signature pink façade, impressive Mediterranean revival architecture, and welcoming hospitality. This renovation not only updates the hotel but pays homage to its past. Vanessa Williams, the hotel’s general manager, remarks, “The monumental renovation nods to The Vinoy’s rich history, exuding timeless Floridian glamor and reinforcing the iconic hotel as an irreplaceable centerpiece of St. Pete’s revitalized downtown for generations to come.”

2. Historic Significance and Heritage

Throughout its colorful history, the historic hotel has welcomed celebrities, athletes, American presidents, and discerning travelers from all over the globe. It is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and is recognized as a member of the Historic Hotels of America.

Preserving the hotel’s historical character is crucial for enhancing local culture and fostering a shared sense of history. As reported by David Rau of Hart Howerton, “Preserving landmarks like this is important, not just because the act of renovation conserves energy and material resources, but also sustains the local culture and strengthens a shared sense of history and belonging.”

3. Modern Features and Amenities

Led by renowned design firms Rockwell Group and Hart Howerton, the renovation enhanced various areas of the resort. Important spaces like the grand lobby, guest rooms, and on-site restaurants received significant updates. A new 2,000-square-foot spa and wellness area has also been added.

Yet, some cherished traditions remain. The inviting rocking chairs on the front porch, a Vinoy staple since its inception, have been refreshed with custom designs by the Rockwell Group. When you enter the hotel, the original ceramic tile flooring and cypress wood-beam ceiling continue to greet guests, connecting them to the hotel’s storied past.

In the lobby, guests can explore Sunni Spencer, a local boutique, or delve into The Vinoy’s history at the revamped gallery. Moreover, the Veranda overlooks the bay, making it an ideal spot for enjoying Mediterranean-inspired dishes.
