Kaeli Conforti is a DC-based freelance writer and editor with over 15 years of experience covering solo, budget, and adventure travel for various prominent publications such as Budget Travel, Forbes, Frommer’s, Fodor’s, and many others. Consequently, she has developed a well-rounded expertise in travel content creation.

She authored the 2024 edition of “Frommer’s Easy Guide to Washington, D.C.” and contributed to other essential travel guides. Her adventurous spirit has taken her on many exciting journeys, including a two-month solo backpacking trip through Southeast Asia and extensive road trips across Australia and New Zealand.

Experience

Originally hailing from Queens, New York City, Kaeli grew up in both Hawaii and Florida. In 2010, she returned to New York to pursue an editorial internship with Budget Travel, which proved to be life-changing and launched her career in the travel industry. After five productive years at Budget Travel, she took on the role of Senior Editor at The Points Guy, where she honed her skills in travel writing and credit card rewards.

In January 2018, Kaeli embraced a freelance lifestyle, drastically downsizing her belongings, which ultimately allowed her to backpack across Southeast Asia for two months. Following that adventure, she embarked on a two-year Working Holiday Visa experience in Australia and New Zealand. Returning to the U.S. in March 2020, she settled in Washington, D.C., and now contributes as a Quality Editor for Dotdash Meredith while continuing to explore her passion for travel writing for numerous outlets.

Kaeli believes that solo travel empowers individuals, giving them complete control over their exploration and adventure.

Education

Kaeli holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and Journalism from the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Her dedication to excellence in journalism is underscored by her membership in the Kappa Tau Alpha Journalism Honor Society.
