Summer Travel Trends: Bundled Vacations on the Rise
- Punta Cana Emerges as Top Destination
- Increase in Length of Stays
- Enhanced Travel Options and Amenities
It’s the summer of bundling, beaches, and longer stays, according to a new report from JetBlue Vacations.
The report, shared recently, revealed that Punta Cana is the top destination for bundled vacations — or trips that combine hotel and airfare into a single price — and that JetBlue bookings for said travel packages are up 66 percent overall.
Top Destinations for Bundled Vacations
JetBlue Vacations’ top ten destinations for bundled trips are:
- Punta Cana
- Montego Bay, Jamaica
- Cancun, Mexico
- Aruba
- Nassau, Bahamas
- Orlando, Florida
- Las Vegas, Nevada
- San Juan, Puerto Rico
- Curaçao
- Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Extended Stays and Increased Interest
In the report, JetBlue Vacations emphasizes that not only are bookings rising, but the average length of travelers’ stays is also increasing, with bundled vacations lasting an average of 6.5 nights. Moreover, interest in bundled vacations has surged, up 32 percent from last year. Travelers are increasingly favoring all-inclusive resorts over stand-alone hotels, according to the data.
Booking Early for the Best Deals
“As we head into the busy summer travel period, we encourage travelers to be proactive to secure the best deals and availability,” said JetBlue Travel Products’ President, Andres Barry, in a statement.
Extra Amenities for Enhanced Travel Experience
Moreover, travelers have the option to add extra amenities such as car rentals, theme park tickets, or activities to their packages. Airlines frequently promote these offerings, highlighting potential savings when bundling different travel products together.
This report coincides with insights from other tourism companies indicating that this summer travel season could set records. Notably, Delta recently announced that over 75% of the seats available on summer international airfares were booked.
Additionally, other airlines, including Delta, United, and Southwest, provide vacation options that come with customer perks, making summer vacations even more appealing.
