Explore the Rivian R1T Pickup and R1S SUV Configurations

Better late than never, right? Rivian is finally taking reservations for its sleekly styled electric pickup and SUV. After an initial weeklong period dedicated to reservation holders of the R1S and R1T electric models, you can now virtually build your dream Rivian R1S and R1T.

Available Models and Launch Editions

The first thing you’ll notice when you access the configurator tool is that the limited-production R1S and R1T Launch Editions are sold out. These exclusive models were scheduled to arrive in the middle of next year—June for the R1T and August for the R1S. Launch Editions feature upgrades like special badging and a unique army green color, aptly named Launch Green.

Selecting Your Package: Explore vs. Adventure

If you were unable to secure a Launch Edition, you can choose between two primary packages: the Explore Package and the Adventure Package.

• Explore Package: This is the more economical option, featuring black interior accents, vegan leather upholstery, and heated seats on both the SUV and truck.
• Adventure Package: This option includes natural ash wood touches, yellow accents, an upgraded audio system, special floor mats, a 100% recycled microfiber headliner, perforated vegan leather seats, and an off-road package that features a reinforced underbody shield, dual front bumper tow hooks, and an air compressor. Additionally, if you’re interested in the R1T, you may consider the $5,000 outdoor kitchen upgrade, which enhances your adventure experience.

Color Options and Interior Customization

The configurators showcase a variety of color options, including shades of silver, white, red, black, blue, green, gray, and yellow. Some colors come at an extra cost, with the more dramatic—Rivian Blue and Compass Yellow—adding a premium of $2,500. Inside, you can choose from different color schemes depending on your configuration, with notable options like the green and brown cabin, reminiscent of ’70s-era American luxury vehicles.

Pricing and Availability

To reserve your Rivian, a $1,000 deposit is required; however, this deposit is fully refundable if you decide to change your mind. Keep in mind that options, specifications, and pricing may change as production nears. Therefore, if you’re satisfied with the current offerings, it’s wise to act sooner rather than later.

In terms of pricing, the 2021 Rivian R1S is expected to start at around $70,000 with the Explore package and $77,500 with the Adventure package. For the R1T, prices begin at approximately $67,500 for the Explore package and $75,000 for the Adventure package. These prices do not include tax credits or destination fees. While Launch Editions are set to arrive next year, you will need to wait until January 2022 for the other models to become available.
