Holland America Line is gearing up to cross the Arctic Circle on a new 28-day voyage inspired by a legendary Norse explorer.

The upcoming journey, set to depart on June 29, 2025, will sail roundtrip from Rotterdam in the Netherlands, traversing five different countries and emphasizing time in Iceland and Greenland, as shared by Holland America. This remarkable experience aboard the Nieuw Statendam ship draws inspiration from Norse explorer Erik Thorvaldsson, famously known as Erik the Red, who established the first European settlement in Greenland.

“Legendary Voyages provide a unique opportunity to create longer cruises that explore a region in depth and include lesser-visited ports, such as four maiden calls in Greenland on the upcoming Arctic Circle Crossing,” stated Beth Bodensteiner, the chief commercial officer of Holland America Line. “This itinerary will take us to Norway’s North Cape, followed by further exploration of the coasts of Greenland and remarkable opportunities in Iceland. At 28 days, it perfectly showcases the area, allowing our guests to experience more than just a brief introduction to these stunning countries.”

Notably, the itinerary includes several first-time stops in Greenland (at Nuuk, Ittoqqortoormiit, Sisimiut, and Ilulissat) as well as an overnight stay in Reykjavik.

Additionally, in terms of pricing, the voyage starts at $4,717 per person. In addition to the new Arctic voyage, Holland America is set to embark on an extraordinary 133-day pole-to-pole Grand Voyage in 2025, which will venture to Antarctica in the south and the Arctic Circle off Norway’s coast in the north. The company recently celebrated its 150th anniversary last year by offering a series of heritage cruises, including a special transatlantic cruise that commemorated its inaugural sailing across the Atlantic Ocean, prior to the cruise line’s formal establishment.
