Detroit Autorama 2020 Highlights
The event takes place at the Detroit Convention Hall, previously known as the Cobo Center. This year’s Detroit Autorama features two distinct levels. The Great 8 contestants gather upstairs, vying for the prestigious Don Ridler Memorial Award. Meanwhile, downstairs, the lively atmosphere of Autorama Extreme showcases traditional hot rods, custom cars, and bobber-style motorcycles, setting a scenic backdrop for the highly anticipated Vinsetta Garage Miss Autorama Pin Up Girl Contest.
Vinsetta Garage Miss Autorama Pin Up Girl Contest
Starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday, all eyes were on the stage for the Pin Up Girl Contest. The event concluded with a standout winner receiving $700 and the title of Baddest Betty.
Traditional Hot Rods and Iconic Judges
The traditional hot rod, often mischaracterized as a “rat rod,” received high praise. For instance, a 1927 Ford Model T chop top coupe was highlighted as a truly remarkable traditional hot rod.
A panel of esteemed judges, including legends like Chip Foose, John McLeod, and Gene Winfield, were in attendance to award the Traditional Rod Pick Awards.
Unique Finds and Hot Rides
The Autorama also showcased many minibikes for sale, including some that were less than miniature, exemplifying the diverse range of vehicles on display.
Experiencing the Culture
The personality of the event was enhanced by participants such as Lil’ Daddy Roth, whose energetic expressions and gestures brought an unforgettable flair to the festivities.
