Heading to Tulum, Mexico just got easier thanks to a new direct flight launching in 2024.

On Friday, Delta Air Lines announced a nonstop service to the popular destination will launch on March 28, 2024, from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). This new flight will operate from Tulum’s yet-to-be-opened Tulum International Airport, also referred to as Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport (TQO), which is scheduled to open in December 2023.

Consequently, tickets will be available for purchase on October 16, 2023. Delta’s SVP of Network Planning, Joe Esposito, stated, “We know Tulum-bound customers will enjoy the elevated experience Delta consistently offers – and now without a two-hour drive from Cancun – as we grow our footprint in Mexico and throughout the Yucatan region.”

Moreover, Delta will utilize a Boeing 737-800 aircraft for this route, which can accommodate 160 passengers, providing a comfortable experience for travelers heading to the stunning beaches and vibrant culture of Tulum.

The announcement of this new route coincides with Delta’s recent financial report, which highlighted a “record September quarter revenue and a double-digit operating margin.” Although there have been changes to its SkyMiles program, Delta remains focused on enhancing customer experience.

In a recent interview, CEO Ed Bastian acknowledged the need to “recalibrate” the service levels while making modifications that enhance understanding and satisfaction among passengers. The new Tulum route represents Delta’s commitment to providing more direct access to popular destinations and meeting the evolving needs of its travelers.
