The festival is renowned for having hosted legends such as The Dave Matthews Band, Ray Charles, and Bob Dylan. Moreover, it is celebrated as the largest musical event in Memphis and takes place annually on the first weekend of May.

International Blues Challenge

The International Blues Challenge, presented by The Blues Foundation, is the largest assembly of blues bands worldwide. Established in 1984, this event aims to foster the careers of emerging blues artists by showcasing their talent and presenting prestigious awards recognized throughout the industry. Each January, nearly 200 blues acts compete for cash and industry-related prizes along Beale Street in downtown Memphis.

While many artists have Southern roots, nationally recognized performers also grace the lineup each year. The festival takes place at the Agricenter.

Gonerfest

Gonerfest is an annual three-day music festival dedicated to punk, metal, ska, and indie rock. Organized by the Goner Records label, the event spans several venues in the Midtown area, typically at the Hi-Tone Cafe, Murphy’s, and the Cooper Young Gazebo in front of the Goner Records store. It generally occurs in late September or early October.

DreamFest Weekend

First held in 2011 to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, DreamFest has grown into a weekend-long celebration featuring R&B, soul, jazz, trap rappers, indie artists, reggae, and spoken word performances. The festival is predominantly hosted at Midtown venues such as Minglewood Hall and 1524 Madison.

MEMPHO

The MEMPHO Music Fest is a unique two-day outdoor festival hosted at Shelby Farms Park. It showcases a wide array of live music across multiple stages. Since its inaugural event in October 2017, the festival has featured renowned headliners like Cage The Elephant, Jason Isbell, and Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals, along with numerous local and nationally touring artists.

Rock For Love

Rock For Love is a multi-day, multi-venue music festival designed to raise funds for the Church Health Center, a nonprofit organization supporting the working uninsured in Memphis. Usually celebrated in September, the 2017 edition was moved to August for its 11th annual occurrence. The lineup often includes beloved local bands, both established and emerging.
