Explore Bangkok’s Siam Center and Discovery Mall Attractions

1. Overview of Siam Shopping Experience

These two adjacent shopping malls in the Siam Square area offer shoppers two unique experiences.

2. Siam Center – The Ideopolis

Siam Center, a four-story structure established in the 1970s, is one of Bangkok’s original shopping malls. After a substantial renovation, it reopened in early 2013. The decor resembles a modern photo studio, featuring many dark surfaces and bright lights, alongside striking modern sculptures. This edgy, artsy space attracts a younger crowd compared to its neighboring malls, Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery. While some shops and dining options, such as Victoria’s Secret, Estee Lauder, and Dairy Queen, seem more conventional, the third floor showcases local designers like Fly Now III, Greyhound Original, and Senada Theory, making it a worthwhile visit for fashion enthusiasts.

Getting There: Use either line of the Skytrain to Siam station. Follow the exit signs for Siam Center, as it connects directly to the station.

3. Siam Discovery Mall

Siam Discovery Mall, managed by the same owners as Siam Center and the larger Siam Paragon, is a cozy shopping destination featuring mid- to high-end shops, including notable brands like Adidas, Armani Exchange, and The North Face. Like other popular Thai malls, Siam Discovery offers a variety of dining options, including Starbucks, Au Bon Pain, and Outback Steakhouse. Additionally, the mall hosts Madame Tussauds on its fifth floor. While Siam Discovery may not stand out on its own, its connection to Siam Center and MBK via an elevated walkway makes it a great stop for shoppers in the area.

Getting There: Take either line of the Skytrain to Siam station. From there, follow the exit for Siam Center and walk through to reach Siam Discovery next door. Alternatively, you can take the Skytrain to National Stadium and enjoy a stroll along the walkways to Siam Discovery.
