Camping at Manresa State Beach: A Guide to Your Coastal Adventure

Overview of Manresa State Beach

Manresa State Beach is located in Santa Cruz County, near the town of Watsonville. While it is primarily open for day use, many visitors come for camping opportunities.

This beach stands out as one of the cleanest and least crowded in the Santa Cruz area, offering stunning views and natural beauty. Visitors are often delighted to spot dolphins offshore or discover seashells and sand dollars along the sandy shore. Even on the busiest days, the beach feels spacious and inviting.

If you seek a relaxing atmosphere with campfires beneath the stars at night and waves to splash in during the day, Manresa State Beach is the ideal destination.

Campsites at Manresa State Beach

The campground features 64 tent-only walk-in sites located in the Uplands Campground.

Guests appreciate the spaciousness of the campsites, which allow for ample room to avoid feeling cramped. Whether you plan to camp with friends or family, one site is quite sufficient for groups of 6 to 8 people.

Although none of the campsites provide direct ocean views, the beach is merely a five-minute walk away. However, be prepared for the more challenging return trip up the stairs after a day of fun in the sun.

Facilities Offered

The campground includes restrooms and paid showers. You can purchase firewood on-site, but fires are only permitted in designated fire rings.

All camping sites require a walk-in setup. While you can drive to unload your gear, no vehicles are parked directly next to the campsites. After unloading, visitors must move their vehicles to the parking area located in the upper lot.

Remember to keep your valuables secured, as the distance from your vehicle means you won’t be able to see it once settled in.

During sunny weather, it is advisable to bring along a canopy, as the open campsites lack shade.
