Due to financial difficulties, the Little River Zoo is closed to the public indefinitely as they search for funding. The zoo is still operating as an animal sanctuary and hopes to re-open to visitors soon.

The woods near Lake Thunderbird State Park in Norman serve as the beautiful backdrop for the Little River Zoo, an educational attraction for metro animal and wildlife enthusiasts who also enjoy other OKC spots such as the Oklahoma City Zoo and Tiger Safari.

However, Little River Zoo is not your typical zoo. Opened in 1996, it is home to almost 400 animals spread across a 55-acre park. Moreover, the zoo provides personalized tours led by trained staff members, allowing guests of all ages to interact with the animals actively.

Location & Directions

The Little River Zoo is conveniently located at 3405 SE 120th Avenue, which is approximately three-quarters of a mile south of Highway 9E in Norman. To get there from Oklahoma City, follow I-35 to Norman, then take Highway 9 East to SE 120th, turning south. The zoo entrance is situated on the east side of the road, making access easy for all visitors.

Birthday Parties

If you are seeking a fun and educational venue for a child’s birthday party, the Little River Zoo is one of the top choices in the metro area. The birthday package options include a guided tour, complimentary petting zoo food, and a designated party area.

Additionally, the zoo offers to bring the party to your home or chosen location, complete with a gift for the birthday child and five animals. The cost for this service is $130 for the first hour, and $50 for each additional hour, providing a unique experience for young animal lovers.
