NORWEGIAN GETAWAY: AN OVERVIEW
Introduction to Norwegian Getaway
Norwegian Cruise Line welcomed the 4,000-passenger Norwegian Getaway to its fleet at an exciting christening event in February 2014. The ship currently sails to the Caribbean from its home port of Miami.
In August 2016, a group from the Rio Summer Olympics chartered the entire ship to house Olympic VIPs. Depending on their status, some stayed in the regular cabins and suites, while the fortunate ones stayed in The Haven.
In the spring of 2017, the Norwegian Getaway repositioned to northern Europe, where she sailed 9-day Baltic cruises until the fall of 2017, when she returned to Miami.
Although the Norwegian Getaway is similar to its sister ship, Norwegian Breakaway, cruise travelers can also enjoy different venues and entertainment options on this newer ship.
Entertainment Options on the Norwegian Getaway
The Norwegian Getaway is the first ship to feature outstanding and unique entertainment options:
- Getaway Theater: This large show lounge spans two decks (6 and 7) and features the unique show “Legally Blonde,” a seven-time Tony Award-nominated musical that is enjoyable for families.
- Illusionarium: This venue showcases marvelous magicians and dinner experiences, offering astonishing illusions and special effects from world-class entertainers.
- GRAMMY® Experience: A combination of a museum and nightclub featuring live musical performers, many of whom are past GRAMMY winners or nominees.
- Wine Lovers the Musical: An interactive lunchtime entertainment option that combines musical and comedic performances with a six-flight wine tasting and lunch.
Cabin Options for Guests
The Norwegian Getaway offers 2,014 staterooms of varying sizes and amenities, with 962 balcony cabins being the most prevalent type. Budget-conscious travelers may prefer one of the 449 inside cabins, which are the most affordable option. Additionally, solo travelers can benefit from the 59 cozy Studio Cabins, which have their own private lounge.
