The Preservation Resource Center Holiday Tour of Homes

Each year, private homeowners from several mansions in the Garden District of New Orleans open their doors for a good cause, sponsored by the Preservation Resource Center, which focuses on preserving the city’s unique architectural heritage. The Holiday Tour of Homes is a self-guided tour featuring beautifully decorated homes for the holidays. This popular tour takes place on the first weekend of December and includes a café and holiday boutique with various vendors, making it an enjoyable day in New Orleans.

Faubourg Marigny Tour of Homes

The Faubourg Marigny, one of the oldest neighborhoods in New Orleans, offers two tours annually: one in the spring and one in the fall. Starting at Washington Square Park, these guided tours explore this historically rich area, showcasing its Creole heritage. Spring tours allow visitors to enter some Creole homes, while fall tours are longer but typically do not include the interiors. Tickets cost about $20.

The Secret Garden Tour of French Quarter Homes

This delightful tour takes place on a weekend in mid-October, allowing access to some of the hidden gardens within French Quarter homes. Secret Gardens of Uptown Tour

This garden-focused tour occurs each March, coinciding with the vibrant blooms of azaleas, camellias, jasmine, and more. Several private gardens in Uptown New Orleans welcome visitors, enhancing the experience with food options and a garden boutique selling unique items. Tickets generally range from $25 for a self-guided tour to $60 for a guided experience.

Algiers Point Tour of Homes

Located on the West Bank of the Mississippi River, Algiers Point is characterized by its lovely tree-shaded streets and historic 19th-century homes. Each October, this charming neighborhood hosts a tour of homes organized by the Algiers Point Neighborhood Association. Visitors can easily reach Algiers by taking the Canal Street Ferry, which is a short and free ride across the river. The tour is conveniently located within walking distance from the ferry landing.
