Experience Santa Claus in Houston: Holiday Fun and Activities

Going to see Santa is a cherished holiday tradition for both kids and adults alike. For many children, the excitement of sitting on Santa’s lap and sharing their Christmas wishes is nearly as thrilling as Christmas Day itself. Parents, however, often look forward to the perfect holiday photo—ideally one without tears. During the festive season, you can catch Santa at various locations across Houston.

Bass Pro Shop

Visiting a camo-clad Santa at Bass Pro has become a beloved tradition in Houston. Many local kids consider this store Santa’s official address. From the day after Thanksgiving to December 24th, the Pearland and Katy Bass Pro Shop locations feature a Winter Wonderland. This event includes a chance for children to meet Santa, alongside arts and crafts, games, remote control cars, and popcorn—ensuring plenty of holiday fun for the little ones.

Traders Village

As Christmas approaches, Traders Village invites families to enjoy the Holiday Market With Santa Claus. Children can capture festive photos with Santa while adults shop in a massive open-air flea market setting. Admission and photographs are free, making it a delightful outing.

Downtown Aquarium

At the Downtown Aquarium, guests can explore sea life, witness white tigers, indulge in a breakfast buffet, and snap a picture with Old Saint Nick. Expect a variety of live entertainment and enjoyable activities for kids. Breakfast with Santa takes place on selected days in December, with tickets priced at $19 for adults and $13 for kids. Reservations are required, so be sure to call ahead.

Discovery Green

On Saturday evenings in December from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Santa trades his usual throne for ice skates at The Ice at Discovery Green. It’s a fun opportunity for parents to take memorable photos with Santa and their children. Admission to ice skate is around $15 per person, which includes skate rental.

Chick-Fil-A

For a unique twist, consider taking your holiday photo with Chick-fil-A’s Santa Cow. Various locations in Houston offer free Christmas photos, breakfast, cookies, and coloring pages. Participation may differ by location, so be sure to check with your local Chick-fil-A for holiday activities.

The Galleria

If visiting one of the aforementioned events is not feasible, you can still enjoy a classic Mall Santa experience. He will be making appearances at First Colony Mall, Baybrook Mall, and Willowbrook Mall, but the Houston Galleria is the prime location for a festive photo. To avoid long lines, consider arriving early in the day and earlier in the season. Additionally, you have the option to purchase advanced tickets online for a specific time slot, allowing you to skip the waiting period.

Bering’s

The Westheimer and Bissonnet Bering’s locations welcome families for free photos with Santa on weekends leading up to Christmas. However, since schedules can vary, it’s advisable to call ahead to ensure Santa’s presence on a particular day.

A Christmas Village at Bayou Bend

Each December, the grounds and mansion of Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, part of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, transform into a stunning winter wonderland. The Christmas Village offers a breathtaking experience with reindeer, artificial snow, carols, and, of course, Santa Claus. Although ticket prices may be high, the memorable experience is well worth it.

Moody Gardens

This Galveston-area attraction ranks as one of the top locations to admire holiday lights in Houston. Additionally, getting a snapshot with Santa adds a fun element to an already enjoyable experience. You can choose to capture your own photo or opt for a package that includes professional pictures.

Sugar Land Town Square

During the holiday season, Sugar Land Town Square exudes Christmas spirit. Each year, the town square sparkles with festive lights and welcomes holiday shoppers. Santa makes special appearances for photos in the town square during the initial Sundays of December. If you miss him, you can mail a letter for $5, and he will respond, making it a delightful experience.
