Top Rooftop Bar Experience at The Standard Hotel

The Rooftop Bar at The Standard Hotel is one of Los Angeles’ most popular night spots. It is well-known during happy hour and serves as a favorite weekend afternoon destination. For years, it has been featured among the coolest downtown LA venues. Access is restricted to individuals aged 21 or over.

The Standard Rooftop Bar in downtown Los Angeles wraps around the central core of the hotel tower, making it a series of verandas rather than a single, large area. The entrance, located on the north side, opens onto a lounge area adorned with towering topiaries, convertible chaise lounge chairs, 60s retro yellow plastic tables and chairs, and a petite dance floor. Heading west reveals colorful sofas and loungers set upon Astroturf. An ascent via a short stairway to the south leads to the pool, while the east wing features retro red waterbed pods and the bar itself.

However, it is the open-air view of the surrounding downtown skyscrapers that adds to the allure of this location. Guests are treated to stunning panoramic views of Downtown Los Angeles and the mountains beyond.

Bottle service and reservations require a minimum expenditure of $400 for up to four guests, adding a fee of $75 for each additional guest, excluding tax and service charges. It is important to note that all reservations necessitate a 48-hour notice, and entry is subject to management’s discretion.

The Crowd

Hotel guests enjoy priority access to the Rooftop Bar, contributing to an eclectic crowd of travelers from across the country and around the globe. If space remains after accommodating hotel guests, locals from Los Angeles, Orange County, and nearby inland regions are also welcomed.
Like many LA hotspots, admission is determined at the discretion of the door staff. Consequently, it is advisable to come dressed to impress, making sure to flaunt your style.
Many locals interested in securing entry opt to book a room at the hotel for the night.

The Music

The Rooftop Bar features a diverse rotation of DJs, typically offering world dance music that creates a lively atmosphere. On weekdays, three DJs usually take the stage, increasing to four on weekends.
It is not uncommon to encounter unannounced live music performances, with renowned artists like Peaches, Justice, and Hot Chip having graced the rooftop.

Food and Drink

The Rooftop Bar serves a lunch menu available from noon until midnight. The menu includes innovative takes on Asian classics, such as poke, teriyaki, and tempura. For a broader selection, guests can turn to the downstairs hotel restaurant. While food items are reasonably priced (with everything under $20), drinks tend to be on the pricier side. However, drink specials are frequently available, making for enjoyable evenings.

Special Events at The Rooftop Bar

The Rooftop Bar hosts regular summer pool parties on certain Saturday afternoons. Gaining access may involve getting on a guest list or securing a hotel room for entry.
