Overview of Vegetarian Dining at Disney’s Magic Kingdom
- Introduction to vegetarian meal options
- Quick service dining recommendations
- Table service dining possibilities
The Magic Kingdom offers an array of meal choices, ranging from simple snacks to full table-service meals featuring your favorite characters. As a vegetarian, you will find numerous options for dining throughout the park, and some establishments may cater to your dietary needs even if specific vegetarian items are not listed on their menus.
In October 2015, Disney World celebrated Vegetarian Awareness Month by unveiling the Top 10 Vegetarian Meals at Disney World. Among these delightful selections were two stands-out offerings within Magic Kingdom. The Lighthouse Sandwich at Columbia Harbor House, located in Liberty Square, received accolades in the quick-service meal category. This delicious sandwich features hummus, tomato, and broccoli slaw, all nestled within toasted multi-grain bread. In the table-service category, the Be Our Guest Restaurant’s Layered Ratatouille was praised for its delectable flavors. This dish comprises oven-baked zucchini, eggplant, mushrooms, tomatoes, and caramelized onions, artfully layered on quinoa and drizzled with a bell pepper sauce.
Note: The following locations and menu options reflect offerings as of 2016; it is always prudent to verify current menus prior to ordering. Some items on this list may contain dairy or eggs.
Quick Service Dining
If you’re in need of a swift snack, Sleepy Hollow, situated in Liberty Square, serves fresh fruit, waffles, funnel cakes, and an assortment of pastries. Additionally, Columbia Harbour House, also found in Liberty Square, boasts several superb vegetarian choices, including chili, sandwiches, and salads. For a tasty pizza option, Pinocchio Village Haus offers Caprese pizza along with salads; however, keep in mind that the Caesar salad dressing may contain anchovies.
Furthermore, while many visitors gravitate towards barbeque and burgers, you can enjoy salads and sides at Cosmic Ray’s in Tomorrowland, alongside their Gardenburger. At Peco’s Bills in Frontierland, the Garden Burger is also available, as well as a Southwest salad (just be sure to request no chicken or beef).
Table Service Dining
Despite Liberty Tree Tavern’s meat-centric menu, vegetarians can sometimes discover suitable entrees, or you may request modifications to existing menu options. The character meal at the Crystal Palace presents several meat-free entrees along with ample salads and sides; however, exercise caution with the soups, as even those labeled “vegetable” or “cream” may incorporate chicken broth.
The Plaza Restaurant serves a delightful veggie sandwich platter and a robust selection of ice cream desserts from the adjacent parlor. Moreover, as of 2016, a Vegetable Burger was available as well. Located on Main Street U.S.A., Tony’s Town Square offers an array of pizzas and vegetarian meals. You can inquire whether certain pasta dishes can be prepared “meat-free” if required.
While Cinderella’s Royal Table may not be particularly vegetarian-friendly, guests can often have several meal items modified upon request. If you’re traveling with a Disney princess fan, consider dining at the 1900 Park Fare Cinderella character meal at the Grand Floridian, where you can enjoy a buffet filled with numerous vegetarian offerings.
