Adventure and Paragliding in Lima
If Lima’s history museums, art galleries, and vibrant water fountains do not quite satisfy your adventurous spirit, consider the exhilarating experience of paragliding off the stunning cliffs of Miraflores. Paragliding has become increasingly popular in this picturesque seafront district, making it one of the most thrilling activities in the city.
Tandem Paragliding in Miraflores
The primary location for paragliding in Lima is the clifftop parapuerto (paraport) situated in Parque Raimondi. This spot is conveniently located just a short walk north from the Parque del Amor and Parque Salazar, along the breathtaking Malecón Cisneros.
Various paragliding operators, such as Fly Adventure, AeroXtreme, and PeruFly, offer tandem flights and courses here.
Tandem flights are particularly popular, as they allow you to soar through the sky while securely strapped to an experienced instructor. During your roughly 10-minute flight, you’ll enjoy stunning aerial views of the coast, stretching from Parque del Amor all the way to Larcomar, Barranco beaches, and the northern coastline of Costa Verde.
Tandem Flights in Pachacamac
For those seeking an alternative experience, select operators like AeroXtreme and Fly Adventure also provide paragliding adventures in the Pachacamac Valley. This location is situated about 20 miles southeast of Central Lima in the Lurín district.
While the prices of Pachacamac flights are comparable to those in Miraflores, they generally last longer—ranging from 15 to 25 minutes—while delivering a more intense flight experience. The paragliding season in Pachacamac typically runs from October to April.
Paragliding Classes
For those looking to dive deeper into the sport, paragliding courses in Lima range from one to eight days, with the longer courses often scheduled over several weeks.
One-day courses provide an introduction to solo flight at low altitudes. In contrast, extended courses cover additional theoretical knowledge, higher altitude flights, and, if completed successfully, offer a student pilot certificate from the Peruvian Association of Free Flight (APVL).
Upon enrollling in a longer course, you’ll have the opportunity to learn to fly in diverse locations, including both Miraflores and Pachacamac.
