Dreaming of tropical islands? When I look at these photos, I can feel the ocean breeze and hear the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. Therefore, let us take you around the world to the most beautiful islands on earth. We’ve had the privilege to visit many beautiful tropical island paradises, so we’ve rounded up our favorites to inspire wanderlust in you!
1. Maldives is a Tropical Paradise
The famous over-water bungalows of the Maldives depict what a luxury escape is all about. When staying in the Maldives, it’s impossible not to feel that you have found paradise.
Nestled in the Indian Ocean, the Maldives is the most stunning island we’ve ever visited. The velvety white sand beaches were perfect for walking barefoot, and the glistening turquoise waters were warm and inviting. Imagine swinging in a hammock under palm trees while taking in the ocean breeze.
The Maldives boasts excellent diving and coral reefs to explore. It’s famous for its abundance of sea turtles, and we can attest, we saw many during our snorkeling adventure. In addition, there is rich culture to explore!
We stayed at: the Cinnamon Donveli and loved our experience at this exclusive resort of all over-water bungalows. We also stayed at the Cinnamon Hakkua Hura, a family resort offering surfing and beautiful beaches.
2. St. Lucia
We recently visited St. Lucia, and it quickly became our top choice for the most beautiful tropical island in the world. With its grand and petit pitons jutting out from the Caribbean Sea, this lush island in the West Indies is breathtaking.
The woman in front of me on my flight gasped when she spotted the pitons for the first time. Although St. Lucia is small, it packs a diverse landscape.
Located in the Eastern Caribbean, St. Lucia has luxury villa retreats on rocky slopes and sandy beach resorts, catering to everyone. It offers gorgeous white sand beaches and unique black sand beaches due to its volcanic origins.

3. Exuma Cays
The Exumas in the Bahamas were one of the first islands that truly captivated us. Looking out the windows of our plane, we were stunned by the beauty of these 365 atolls in the Caribbean Sea.
This photograph captures that dreamy tropical island scene that we all wish to escape to. The turquoise waters and pristine white sand beaches make the Exumas a perfect retreat. We had never seen such smooth white sand on secluded beaches until our visit to the Exumas.
We stayed at the lovely family-run Embrace Resort on Staniel Cay, providing a fantastic experience in the heart of the Exuma’s islands.
4. Fiji
When thinking of Fiji, one cannot help but visualize absolute paradise. Located in the South Pacific, this archipelago is a destination that doesn’t disappoint. Untouched by extensive development, you can still find quiet, secluded beaches in these tropical islands.
With 330 islands, Fiji offers perfect beaches with long stretches of white sand meeting the azure waters of the South Pacific. A boat trip from Viti Levu or a stay at a private luxury resort allows you to experience these incredible beaches.
5. Southern Thailand’s Islands
Thailand boasts some of the most beautiful islands and beaches in the world. The crown jewel of Southeast Asia, its islands range from remote getaways to luxurious resorts lining pristine beaches.
Among our favorites are Koh Lipe, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, and Koh Samui, along with the stunning Krabi filled with limestone formations. The trip to Koh Lipe is worth it as long-tail boats create picturesque scenes.
6. Bali
Bali, located in Indonesia, offers tourists an island experience steeped in deep cultural roots. Temples line the coastline, while endless white sand beaches balance the volcanic black sand beaches found here.
Tana Lot is one of its sacred temples, providing a peaceful atmosphere. Bali is not just about beautiful beaches; it also boasts a rich Hindu culture, stunning rice terraces in Ubud, and exciting adventures like climbing the active volcano of Gunung Batur.
7. Grand Cayman Island
The clear blue waters of Grand Cayman Island frame it as a tropical paradise and a scuba diving haven.
With fantastic activities including hiking to Crystal Caves and swimming with stingrays at Stingray City, Grand Cayman is home to some of the best dining in the Caribbean. The resort-lined 7-mile beach promises a perfect getaway.
8. Jamaica
Jamaica, located in the West Indies, is the ultimate tropical vacation destination. Venture beyond your resort gates to discover rich culture, fun activities, and friendly people. The beaches are undeniably breathtaking.
Jamaica caters to couples, families, and partygoers with diverse accommodations, making it a versatile and inviting destination.
9. Galapagos Islands

13. Fraser Island
Fraser Island isn’t always on the list of tropical destinations, but it should be. Known for its beautiful beaches and adventurous spirit, resorts offer ample relaxation options amidst stunning natural landscapes.

14. Maui
