What To Do At Crystal Bay Nusa Penida

• Snorkeling

Snorkeling gear is available for rent at around 50k IDR (~$3 USD). The coral reefs are reputedly vibrant further out, but caution is needed due to potentially strong currents in certain areas. Fortunately, traditional boats are often anchored within the bay, offering a nearby safety point.

• Temples

The bay features a small rocky island with trees, where access is restricted due to an ancient Hindu temple. Additionally, a temple on the main beach, encircled by palm trees, serves as a perfect photo opportunity. Visitors are welcome inside, provided they wear appropriate attire (a sarong).

• Crystal Beach

Having first visited Crystal Bay in 2017 when Nusa Penida was relatively undiscovered, the beach has recently become popular with tourists. Despite the crowds, it remains a worthwhile destination for exploration or relaxation.

• Sunset

Crystal Bay is renowned for its breathtaking sunsets. Visitors can enjoy leisurely moments with drinks in hand while witnessing the sun setting over the coastline.

Entrance Fees

As of 2024, entrance to Crystal Bay is FREE, but a parking fee of 5k IDR is applicable for scooters.

How To Get To Crystal Bay

Located on the west side of Nusa Penida, Crystal Bay is accessible by car or scooter, approximately a 30-minute drive from the main docks and accommodations in northern Penida.

Where We Stayed

During our visit, we chose to stay at Saren Villa on the north coast of Nusa Penida, where we paid 240k Rupiah ($15 USD) for a private double room equipped with cold A/C, hot shower, and reliable WiFi. This accommodation provided excellent value and was conveniently located near top dining options.
