After climbing the rainbow stairs (272 total), visitors can interact with wild monkeys and explore the various caves.
Batu Caves feature a series of expansive caves with impressive high ceilings and large openings that allow natural sunlight in. Additionally, there is a dark cave that you can explore through a guided tour.
Exercise caution with the monkeys as they can be mischievous. Avoid bringing food or plastic bags as they may become targets for the monkeys. It is advisable to wear mosquito repellent as a precautionary measure.
How Long To Stay
Most visitors will likely conclude their tour in less than an hour. While the location is certainly fascinating, there may not be an extensive amount to see within the caves themselves.
Although the caves are impressive, they might have appeared more breathtaking in their natural state—devoid of concrete, shops, and temples.
Personal preferences vary; the vibrant Indian temples within may not appeal to everyone. From my perspective, the exterior views upon arrival are among the best features of the site.
Both the large statue and rainbow stairs present unique and photogenic opportunities for visitors.

How To Get To Batu Caves From Kuala Lumpur
The Batu Caves are situated just 13 kilometers (8 miles) north of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Consequently, it’s a quick 20-minute drive from the city center.
The easiest way to reach the location is to take a Grab taxi, which will cost around 20 MYR ($5 USD) from KL city.
If you are looking for a more economical option, consider taking the train from KL Sentral. The train operates every half hour and costs only 2.5 MYR (less than one US Dollar).

Where We Stayed
