Lempuyang Shuttle
Since 2022, a shuttle bus system has been implemented at Lempuyang Temple to manage the crowds and narrow roads effectively. The parking area lacks sufficient space, making the shuttle a practical solution, although it incurs an additional cost.
The shuttle fare is 50k Rupiah for a round trip (25k Rupiah each way) and takes only 5 to 10 minutes.
Best Time to Visit
To capture the most breathtaking photos, plan a visit to Lempuyang before sunrise when the Mount Agung volcano is still visible. Arriving around 5 or 5:30 AM is advisable, as the temple opens at 5:30 AM, though arrive earlier to secure a good spot.
If you’re more interested in avoiding crowds while still enjoying great photos, consider visiting in the afternoon, post-lunch when many tourists have departed.
Entrance Fee
Previously, visitors could enter Lempuyang Temple for free with a voluntary donation. However, as of 2022, an entrance fee of 55k Rupiah per person is now required. This fee includes a sarong, and locals are available to assist with photography at the iconic gate, though tipping is optional and appreciated.
Bear in mind, the shuttle bus fee is additional, costing 50k Rupiah for a round trip, making the overall visit a bit pricier than before.
How To Get There
Pura Lempuyang is situated in Karangasem, at Bali’s eastern end. For easy access, consider staying near the Amed coast, only a 30-minute drive away. However, if you’re traveling from southern Bali hubs like Ubud or Canggu, be prepared for a longer two-hour journey.
