Affordable Chic Hotel in the Catskills with Cocktail Bar and Stunning Mountain Views

Introduction

A historic Victorian mansion is reborn as the Hotel Lilien, the latest boutique hotel in the Catskills. This charming establishment offers travelers a tranquil respite from the hustle and bustle of city life in a chic, vintage-inspired setting. Officially opened on Dec. 1 in the village of Tannersville, New York, the hotel features 18 rooms starting at $200 a night.

Hotel Features

Sitting on eight forested acres along the legendary Rip Van Wrinkle Trail on Route 23A, Hotel Lilien, formerly the Washington Irving Inn, presents a harmonious blend of historic elegance and modern hospitality. The hotel boasts 18 uniquely themed guest rooms and an anticipated adjacent restaurant, all of which capture the artistic spirit of the region.

The Lost Boys Hospitality Group leads the hotel’s restoration, utilizing decor from San Francisco’s Field Theory and collaborating with local artisans to infuse quirky yet elegant touches throughout the property.

Hand-picked vintage and Victorian furnishings adorn the interiors, showcasing original features such as 1890s wood paneling, stained-glass windows, and a cozy sitting area equipped with a wood-burning stove. This careful curation allows old and new to coexist beautifully, ensuring each guest experiences an inviting and sophisticated atmosphere.

Art and Culture

Art is integral to the character of Hotel Lilien. The property houses an impressive collection, featuring Japanese woodblock prints and Calder posters. Moreover, the hotel has partnered with local artists for an artist-in-residence program, allowing guests to engage with and purchase unique pieces directly from the creators.

Leah Harmatz, interior designer and principal of Field Theory, expressed that the third floor has been specially designed to transport guests into a different world, showcasing unique features such as sloped ceilings and sweeping mountain views.

Amenities

During the spring and summer, guests can relax by the hotel’s swimming pool, while a resident guide is available for nature walks throughout the year. Additionally, the adjacent Nat’s Mountain House is set to open in spring 2023, bringing a new culinary experience to this spectacular location. Until then, guests can enjoy cocktails and light bites in the full-service cocktail bar and lounge, or gather around the outdoor fire pit, surrounded by stunning mountain vistas.

With a starting rate of $200 per night, Hotel Lilien invites visitors to discover a perfect blend of tranquility, elegance, and artistic inspiration.
