Alaska Airlines Expands Winter Routes to Central America and Mexico

Alaska Airlines Announces New Route to Guatemala

Alaska Airlines is heading to Guatemala with a brand-new route from Los Angeles to the capital, Guatemala City. The year-round route will launch on December 14, operated daily by a Boeing 737 aircraft. This new flight will complement other Central American destinations that Alaska serves from Los Angeles, such as Belize and Costa Rica.

According to Kirsten Amrine, vice president of revenue management and network planning for Alaska Airlines, “As a growing airline, we’re expanding to more international destinations. Guatemala is a dynamic new country for us and our guests, full of outdoor adventures, history, and natural beauty. Our new service will allow families, friends, and businesses to better connect between the West Coast and Central America.”

Alaska Airlines Is Adding New Routes to Central America, Mexico for Winter

In addition, on December 23, Alaska will also introduce new seasonal flights from San Diego and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, a popular destination along Mexico’s Pacific Coast. These flights will be operated once per week from December until April.

With these new flights, Alaska will offer four peak-day nonstop flights to Mexico from San Diego. “We’ve been flying to Mexico for 35 years. It’s a favorite with many of our guests for its culture, cuisine, and beaches,” Amrine noted. She added that the new nonstops from San Diego and Chicago to Zihuatanejo provide travelers with more options as they plan their winter escapes.

Alaska Airlines Announces Additional Destinations

Alaska Airlines is not solely focusing on Central America. Recently, they also announced new flights from Portland, OR, to Miami, along with additional services from Palm Springs to New York and from San Luis Obispo to Las Vegas. The airline has further launched daily nonstop flights connecting San Diego with Washington, D.C., and Eugene, OR. Notably, on October 5, the airline plans to launch daily nonstop flights between San Diego and Tampa, enhancing its service portfolio.

In conclusion, Alaska Airlines continues to grow its network and provides innovative travel options for West Coast travelers seeking vibrant destinations in Central America and Mexico. Whether planning a family vacation or a business trip, travelers can enjoy more connectivity and flexible travel schedules.
