American Airlines Expands Service from Miami
American Airlines is enhancing its flight offerings to new warm weather destinations, consequently providing increased seating options from its hub in Miami, Florida. This expansion is designed to cater to the growing travel demand.
1. New Destinations and Services
Announced Thursday, American Airlines will begin operating a direct flight from Miami International Airport to Governor’s Harbour, Bahamas (GHB) for the very first time. This picturesque location, situated about 69 miles east of Nassau, will feature twice-weekly flights on an Embraer E175 aircraft. Moreover, there will be new daily service from Miami to Portland, Oregon, starting on Nov. 5, and from Miami to Sacramento, launching on Dec. 20.
2. Increased Flight Frequency
Furthermore, the airline will introduce Saturday-only flights from Miami to several markets, which will operate between Nov. 11 and March 30, 2024. These markets include:
- Buffalo, NY
- Cedar Rapids, IA
- Lexington, KY
- Wichita, KS
- Wilmington, NC
From Dec. 20 through April 3, 2024, the airline will also increase service to daily flights from Miami to several destinations:
- Milwaukee, WI
- Oklahoma City, OK
- Nashville, TN
- Denver, CO
Additionally, American Airlines will double flights to twice daily to San Antonio, San Diego, and Seattle from Miami during this same December to April timeframe.
3. Commitment to Customers
“With a more than 30-year history at Miami International Airport, American Airlines is proud to be the hometown airline, offering our customers an unmatched network that includes unique destinations such as Governor’s Harbour, Bahamas; Anguilla; and Sacramento, California,” stated Juan Carlos Liscano, American’s Vice President of Miami Airport Hub Operations.
As the summer travel season continues to reach record levels, American Airlines is also boosting the frequency of select international routes during the upcoming winter season. For instance, the airline will ramp up flights from Miami to Cancun to six daily flights during the holiday period from Dec. 20 through Jan. 7, 2024. Moreover, travelers heading to the British Virgin Islands will benefit from increased options, as the airline will provide three flights to Tortola during peak days within the same holiday timeframe.
