American Airlines Expands Summer Flight Schedule
American Airlines is significantly increasing its summer schedule by adding more domestic and international flights to accommodate growing passenger demand.
This week, American Airlines announced the resumption of transatlantic routes from Dallas to Amsterdam, Paris, and Frankfurt. Additional routes include flights from Miami to Antigua, Guayaquil, and Quito. Furthermore, direct flights are set to operate from Chicago to London, from New York to London, and from Dallas to Dublin starting in July.
After months of lockdowns, travel bans, and restricted services, American Airlines reported its plans to operate 55% of its July 2019 domestic schedule and 20% of its international schedule this coming July. Overall, total flights for July 2020 will amount to 40% of the levels seen in July 2019.
As several national parks, such as Yosemite, Yellowstone, Zion, and Grand Teton, begin to reopen across the US, travelers are seeking domestic leisure trips for summer 2020. Consequently, American Airlines is increasing services to Montana, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming from its major hubs to meet the demand. Moreover, there will be increased flight options to Florida as the state’s theme parks, including Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World, begin to reopen.
Tickets for July flights will be available for purchase directly on American Airlines’ website starting Sunday, July 7.
In addition, Emirates and Etihad announced the resumption of transit flights from hubs in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to 29 destinations across North America, Europe, and Asia by June 15. Additionally, Australia’s Qantas and Air New Zealand are also set to resume services in June as travel restrictions are lifted.
