Welcome to Arthaus in Beirut
Why Choose Arthaus?
Arthaus serves as a social hub, providing an artistic ambiance perfect for those seeking authenticity and adventure in an elegant, low-key setting.
Set the Scene
Nestled in an alley off the main street in the artistic district of Gemmayze, Arthaus comprises four beautifully restored Ottoman-era stone buildings that capture the essence of old Beirut. This unique establishment is favored by the city’s creative talent and globetrotting entrepreneurs.
The Backstory
Owner Nabil Debs left behind his urban life in the UK to embrace Beirut’s vibrant art scene. With his wife Zoe, they meticulously restored his family’s estate, which has been handed down through generations. This endeavor adds to their collection of art-centric hotels in notable locations such as Berkshire and Megève, with plans for future expansions into Havana, Cuba. However, on the day the hotel was set to launch in August 2020, the city faced a devastating ammonium-nitrate explosion, tragically claiming over 200 lives and causing extensive damage. Consequently, Arthaus has been slowly reopening, thanks to dedicated fundraisers and charity auctions that have supported its recovery.
The Rooms
The accommodation options at Arthaus vary, with some rooms featuring lofty arched ceilings and cozy corners, while others resemble spacious bedrooms within a grand private residence, showcasing original tiles and abundant natural light.
Food and Drink
Guests can enjoy breakfast served anywhere on the property, featuring a generous array of traditional Lebanese foul mudammas and labneh, elegantly presented on Villeroy & Boch tableware. Dinner highlights include indulgent dishes like foie gras and Black Angus short ribs. Additionally, the creative house mixologist has crafted unique cocktails, with standout offerings such as the Nabih Berri, a gin-based drink named after a prominent local political figure.
Arthaus is more than just a hotel; it offers a seamless fusion of history, art, and culinary delight, making it a must-visit destination when exploring the artistic heart of Beirut.
