Summary
The Bali Butterfly Park presents a wonderful opportunity to engage with Indonesian insects and butterflies in a semi-natural environment on this beautiful island. Visitors can expect an enjoyable experience!
Bali hosts two butterfly parks, both offering similar attractions. You have the option to visit the Kemenuh Butterfly Park near Ubud, or the alternative park located in the Tabanan regency.
This travel guide details how to reach these parks and everything you should consider before your visit!
Where To Stay
Visiting The Bali Butterfly Parks
The Bali Butterfly Park in Kemenuh features an outdoor area with walking paths inhabited by hundreds of vibrant butterflies, including a selection of over a dozen endemic Balinese species.
This entire experience can typically be completed in 30 to 60 minutes. Consequently, while ticket prices might seem a bit elevated for Bali standards, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
One of the main attractions at both the Kemenuh Butterfly Park and the Tabanan equivalent is the indoor hatchery, where visitors can interact with giant stick bugs native to Borneo, alongside a few astonishing Atlas moths, recognized as the largest moths in the world.
Nature enthusiasts and families will find joy in hands-on experiences with these creatures, and at the Tabanan park, there’s an opportunity to hold Goliath beetles and leaf bugs as well!
Kemenuh Butterfly Park vs Tabanan
For context, here is a comparison of the two butterfly parks found in Bali:
- Kemenuh Butterfly Park is generally in better condition, showcasing more butterflies and offering superior management. Moreover, it’s conveniently located for visitors from Ubud, Sanur, and other tourist hotspots.
- Tabanan Butterfly Park allows for interaction with more insect species, including the remarkable Goliath beetles, and features an indoor mini-museum where framed insects can be viewed. However, this park is in need of some renovations and is also less accessible from the main tourist areas.
Fortunately, both parks provide the chance to hold giant stick bugs and Atlas moths, enhancing the experience further!

Bali Private Driver & Motorbike Rental
For those seeking to explore Bali comfortably and safely, my highest recommendation is to consider GetYourGuide.
Their pricing starts at 700k Rupiah (~$48 USD) for a full day of driving and sightseeing in Bali (up to 10 hours) accommodating 1-5 passengers. This total cost includes the car, driver, and petrol, making it quite an economical option. Furthermore, they provide affordable hotel transfers from the airport.
If you prefer the flexibility of traveling by motorbike, they also offer that option. Their scooter rentals begin at 140k Rupiah (~$9) and include essential gear such as a helmet, raincoat, and free delivery in the southern Bali area.
Having utilized GetYourGuide for numerous tours and activities globally, I can affirm they consistently deliver quality service! Highly recommended.
