Unique Foliage Map
What makes the Empire State’s foliage map unique is that it’s curated by a team of volunteer leaf spotters spread across its 11 regions. These volunteers provide valuable reports on the status of leaf color changes in their areas. This year’s team includes over 85 New Yorkers who will detail the dominant leaf colors, percentage of change, and progress towards peak hues weekly.
Interactive Fall Foliage Report
Beginning September 14, the report will be released every Wednesday. It will consist of an interactive map, tracking weekly progress and highlighting the best spots to experience the stunning fall colors. Notably, this year’s report integrates features allowing users to filter autumn attractions by categories, such as food and drink or arts and culture. Among the featured activities are family-friendly breweries and cideries, cozy getaways, and train-accessible destinations.
Path Through History Weekend
Additionally, New York State highlights its rich heritage during the fall foliage season with a Path Through History weekend from October 8 to 10. This event will be celebrated at over 700 locations, including museums, historic sites, parks, and various cultural institutions.
