Experience Winter Fun at Boyne Mountain Resort
Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls, Michigan, is filled with winter fun for the whole family, whether you are staying a week or a weekend. It offers the perfect combination of an active resort and comfortable relaxation which keeps visitors coming back every year.
Winter activities at Boyne Mountain Resort are centered around the Alpine Village, a quaint area with European charm among the shops, eateries, and activity centers.
Selection of Accommodations
Lodging at Boyne Mountain Resort is similar to their sister resort, Boyne Highlands. It varies to accommodate everything from couples to large families with lodge rooms, condominiums, suites, villas, and even mountain cabins.
At the Mountain Grand Lodge, you can be in the center of all the action in one- to four-bedroom suites. The 1326-square-foot Salzburg Suite is a favorite as one of the three bedrooms is decorated for kids and has two sets of bunk beds. The suite also has a full kitchen and two full baths.
Cold Weather Activities
Don’t worry if you aren’t into downhill skiing. Michigan’s Boyne Mountain has one of the biggest selections of winter sports of any Midwest ski resort. Here, you can zip line, snowshoe, cross-country ski, snowboard, or go tubing. Different levels of instruction can be purchased, and equipment rental is available for all of the sports, whether it’s for a child, adult, beginner, or expert.
If you are ready to hit the slopes with your own ski equipment, you can simply purchase a Boyne Mountain lift ticket and enjoy one of the 60 runs at the resort.
Lots of Extras
Guests of Boyne Mountain will find that the selection of complimentary activities rivals other resorts in Michigan. There is no charge for the nighttime sleigh rides, s’mores by the fire, story time, and movies. Ice skating is also free of charge, as are the skates. Each day, there is a schedule for guests outlining what’s going on in the resort without added fees.
Dining Options for Everyone
Boyne Mountain Resort has more than a dozen options for dining, including a taco truck parked by the slopes many afternoons and evenings.
Everett’s and Stein Eriksen’s are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, offering comfort food as well as satisfying buffets. Their breakfast buffets feature an omelet and waffle station, hot dishes, fruit, and house-made pastries to keep busy skiers fueled for their adventures.
Forty Acres Tavern serves specialty sandwiches, such as their scrumptious Loaded Grilled Cheese, which includes cheddar, feta, provolone, bacon, caramelized onion, and avocado served with a sun-dried tomato aioli on Texas toast. This delightful spot is conveniently located next to Kilwin’s Fudge, a Michigan favorite that also offers ice cream and coffee drinks.
For a nightcap or hot chocolate, perhaps spiked with Rumchata, you can visit the bar at Everett’s or the Snowflake Lounge (21 and over at night).
Family Friendly
The rooms aren’t the only things at Boyne Mountain that are kid-friendly. If your children are too young or aren’t interested in winter sports, you can still find fun opportunities. The Kid Care program accommodates children as young as three months until 6:00 pm (evening childcare can also be arranged) with engaging activities and snacks provided.
One place kids love at this resort is the Avalanche Bay Water Park. This indoor facility is not weather-dependent and open all year. The waterpark, the largest in Michigan at 88,000 square feet, features six waterslides, including one (The Big Couloir) with the steepest drop in the waterpark industry.
While access to Avalanche Bay Water Park incurs an extra charge, guests can enjoy the indoor-outdoor pool and the outdoor whirlpools at their convenience.
Don’t Forget The Boyne Spa
With all the activity at Boyne Mountain Resort, you’ll need to schedule some downtime. The Spa is the perfect place to relax. Facilities include a whirlpool, sauna, steam room, relaxation rooms, and a fitness center. This is an ideal location to get a manicure or pedicure while taking in a beautiful mountain view.
In addition to a standard array of massages, facials, and wraps, check out the seasonal specials at The Spa at Boyne Mountain. In winter, they may feature a heavenly Spiced Pudding Body Treatment and in spring, the Swiss Hibiscus Body Treatment, which includes a soak in a citrus bath, an exfoliation with Brandy Pear Sea Salt, a wrap in a papaya and honey mask, and a Citrine Beach Body Milk massage.
