The Teletubbies Hill (also known as ‘Bukit Teletubbies’) is unique compared to other sights on Nusa Penida, an island renowned for its extraordinary landscapes.
This site features a series of large, rounded hills in the center of the island, named for their resemblance to the backdrop of the Teletubbies children’s show.
After skipping this location for several years, we recently decided to visit during our latest tour of Bali.
This travel guide will detail how to reach this site and everything else you should know before your visit!
Where To Stay In Nusa Penida
Teletubbies Hill Nusa Penida
The viewpoint at Teletubbies Hill offers stunning views. Commonly referred to by its Indonesian name, ‘Bukit Teletubbies’, it holds the same meaning.
Although I anticipated a modest experience based on prior reviews, visiting during the rainy season (January) revealed vibrant green hills that were truly spectacular.
These hills bear a resemblance to the famous Chocolate Hills in Bohol, Philippines. Furthermore, utilizing a drone provides a remarkable perspective of the landscape.
The hills exhibited a striking green hue during January.
Best Time To Visit
To fully appreciate this viewpoint, it’s advisable to visit during or immediately after the rainy season (roughly December to April), when the hills are lush and green.
In contrast, visiting between April and May will result in a more yellowish landscape.
During summer, the terrain turns dry and brown, offering a less picturesque view.
No matter the season, visitors will enjoy a pleasant breeze at the summit, making it an ideal spot to relax momentarily!
Entrance Fees
The entrance to Teletubbies Hill is FREE as of 2024.
There are no parking or entry fees associated with visiting this scenic location.
How To Get There
Teletubbies Hill is situated on the southeast side of Nusa Penida island.
A small pull-off area near the hills is accessible by car or scooter, approximately a one-hour drive from the main docks and accommodations in northern Penida.
Exercise caution when traveling by scooter, as the roads can be rough and potentially hazardous if you do not proceed with care!
Hiking is not necessary to engage with the hills, although visitors may walk up to the top of the central hill for a closer view.
