Discover Local Art and Infinity Pools at Cabo’s Premier Resort with the First Speakeasy

Las Ventanas Al Paraíso: Celebrating 25 Years of Craftsmanship and Culture

Las Ventanas Al Paraíso, a Rosewood Resort in San José del Cabo, Mexico, just celebrated its 25th anniversary.

My journey to this exquisite destination led me to surprise experiences that celebrated not just luxury, but also the rich Mexican culture and craftsmanship present throughout the resort.

Unique Hat Embroidery Workshops

When I arrived for a quick getaway weekend in July, I hadn’t planned on participating in the hat embroidery workshops offered at Las Ventanas Al Paraíso. Intrigued, I discovered that Corazon Playero, a female-owned business, employs local artisans to create beautifully embroidered hats.

Christina Padilla, the showroom manager, explained, “Our goal is to empower women.” The patterns, inspired by local flora and fauna, transformed my perspective on hat wearing as I engaged in the creative process under the guidance of skilled artisans.

Showcasing Mexican Art and Craftsmanship

Las Ventanas is a showcase for Mexican artistry, featuring vibrant woven bed runners and outdoor sculptures by Rodo Padilla. Frederic Vidal, the resort’s general manager, emphasizes the importance of sourcing artisan pieces directly from local craftspeople, ensuring fair compensation and support for their craft.

Inside my oceanfront suite, the thoughtful turndown service included unique decorative items created by local artisans, highlighting the resort’s commitment to showcasing authentic Mexican culture.

25th Anniversary Celebrations

The anniversary celebrations included an outdoor reception that highlighted Mexican traditions, such as live music performed by Sol de America mariachi band. Guests were treated to a six-course menu accompanied by performances that depicted regional dances, thus fostering a festive atmosphere that blended cultural pride with luxury.

Cultural Experience at La Botica

The highlight for many was the visit to La Botica, the first speakeasy in Los Cabos. Entering a hidden door through a secret code adds an element of mystery, complemented by fabulous cocktails crafted specially for guests. Here, artist-in-residence Rosalía de Cuba performs, enchanting visitors with melodic tunes, further enriching the cultural experience during their stay.

As the evening unfolded, I reflected on the incredible artisans I had met, the vibrant Mexican culture on display, and the unforgettable experiences that made my time at Las Ventanas so special. I look forward to wearing my embroidered hat, a symbol of the creativity and craftsmanship inherent in this beautiful destination.
