Overview
Introduction to Katmandu Park Punta Cana
With white-sand beaches, all-inclusive hotels, and turquoise waters, the Dominican Republic is already a top vacation destination. However, the upcoming Katmandu Park Punta Cana promises to elevate the experience with innovative entertainment. This park will be the Caribbean’s first world-class theme park, featuring exciting rides and attractions upon its opening to the public in early 2023. The $350 million project is a collaboration between global entertainment developers Falcon’s Beyond and Meliá Hotels International.
Resortainment Concept
This expansive new property capitalizes on the concept of “resortainment,” which combines a hotel, an entertainment and dining district, and Katmandu Park into one family-friendly destination. Falcon’s Central will feature dining, retail, and entertainment in one convenient complex. Furthermore, Falcon’s Resort by Meliá, scheduled to open in December 2022, will present an all-inclusive, all-suite resort packed with amenities including a spa, pool, beach club, water park, and kids club — all with access to Katmandu Park.
Exciting Attractions
Katmandu Park Punta Cana will feature several state-of-the-art rides that promise to immerse guests in the fantasy storytelling of The Hidden Realms of Katmandu. The park aims to provide an alternative to the typical “mega park” experiences by implementing its “Big Experience, Small Footprint” concept, which focuses on delivering world-class experiences within a compact setting.
- Voyage of the Fathom Wanderer: A suspended theater attraction that offers an underwater adventure with a unique ride element.
- Challenge of the Mad Mage: An interactive, multisensory, 4-D theater experience where guests will navigate through the Hidden Realms using their own blasters.
- Legend of the Desirata: A 4-D dark ride combining scenic elements, projection screens, and audio effects to tell the origin story of Katmandu.
- EtherQuest: An interactive, walk-through attraction designed for a gamelike experience.
- Additionally, the park will include a mini golf course, outdoor ropes course, indoor climbing courses, and a carousel.
