Discover Why Chengdu is the Ultimate Panda Sanctuary

Explore Chengdu: The Heart of Giant Panda Conservation

While there is plenty to keep visitors to Chéngdū interested, most come for one reason only: to catch a glimpse of giant pandas.

Giant Panda Breeding Research Base

The city is renowned for its Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, located just north of the urban center. This sanctuary is dedicated to caring for more than 100 giant pandas, with the ultimate goal of reintroducing them back into the wild. Consequently, the city itself is filled with reminders of these beloved animals, from various souvenirs to charming panda statues that tourists frequently visit.

Part of China’s Panda Route

Chéngdū will serve as one of the essential stops on China’s panda route. As infrastructure improves, it will become easier than ever for tourists to explore and experience the country’s most iconic animal up close.
