Artistic Process

Ifedilichukwu first cleans discarded cans and expertly cuts off their ends to unfurl them. Subsequently, he cuts the cans into strips, which he interweaves to form intricate portraits. His deep sense of eco-awareness is influenced by his grandmother, with whom he grew up in Anambra state, southeastern Nigeria.

Unyielding Passion for Art

The artist’s dedication to his craft is evident, as he is willing to endure cuts from sharp metal edges. “Getting cut is not a problem for me. It will heal,” Ifedilichukwu stated. He believes that experiencing this pain adds depth to his message about the environmental impact of waste.

The artist is also willing to suffer for his art, and sometimes gets cut by the metal's sharp edges.
