Discover China’s Latest Horizontal Skyscraper Now Open to Visitors

The Crystal Skybridge: A Unique Experience in Chongqing, China

New attractions have begun opening again in China after the nationwide lockdown was lifted. One stunning addition is the so-called “horizontal skyscraper” in the southwestern city of Chongqing.

The Crystal Skybridge is part of the Raffles City Chongqing skyscraper complex. It has earned its nickname because it connects several parts of the complex at an impressive height of 250m. The first part of The Crystal has opened to the public—the Exploration Deck, which is the highest of its kind in this region of China.

Stunning Views from the Exploration Deck

Visitors to the Exploration Deck will enjoy breathtaking views of the megapolis skyline. Additionally, they can admire the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers below through the glass floor, specifically designed to provide the “sensation of walking in mid-air.”

The Journey Begins

The experience commences at Level 1, where visitors can learn about the engineering behind The Crystal. From there, a super-fast elevator ascends more than forty floors in under a minute. On Level 47, another exhibition imagines what a futuristic life on Mars could look like, before visitors step out into the open-air deck.
